Nicaragua

Nicaragua is the largest nation located in Central America, close to the size of New York. Tourism is the second largest industry in the nation and has increased dramatically over the past few years. There government is a republic where the President Daniel Ortega is the head of state as well as head of the government. Mestizos and whites make up the majority of the population making it the second largest White Latin American population in Central America. Education is free for all people, however many children in the more rural areas do not attend school simply because there is a lack of school buildings.  The country is no more densely populated than its surrounding nations but it is growing rapidly. The population has risen from approximately 5.1 to 5.6 million in only a year.

 Cameroon

Cameroon is located in Central Africa. Its official languages are English and French. Its government its a Republic with a population of approximately 17.8 million people. Education is free for all and state run. Cameroon also has one of the highest school attendance rates in Africa. However males outnumber females in the school system due to social attitudes as well as harassment. Due to higher rates of attendance in the south there is a greater number of staff members leaving the northern schools of Cameroon at a severe disadvantage for educational opportunities. Even though the education is better than that in most of Africa, the health care is extremely poor. Areas outside major cities are poorly equipped and unsanitary. While they have few options for modern western medicine most of society still believes in the traditional medicine of their culture.
